Church Tours

While you are at our Festival, come take a tour of our beautiful Church! Our Festival Church Tours will draw you into the beauty and tradition of the Early Christian Church. Our Orthodox Church is for the entire world, yet sadly few people in America know much about it. Let us bring you into the beauty and mystery of our faith as you journey through the reverent setting of our church and listen to the rich history of Orthodoxy: The Early Church still exists today!

Meeting Place & Duration

Tours will meet on the front steps of the church and will last 30 — 40 minutes. Our priest, Father Thomas Bartz, will be leading each tour. Please arrive a few minutes early so tours may start on time.

Vespers

On Saturday at 6:00 pm we will have our Evening Prayer service. This prayer service is an ancient practice of the Christian church and is filled with hymns sung in the Byzantine style, Psalm readings, incense, and prayers to our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ. All people are invited to attend.

Who Is Father Thomas?

Father Thomas Bartz grew up in Streamwood, Illinois, baptized as an infant in the Catholic Church but raised Lutheran. He met his wife Karen at Moody Bible Institute, where they pursued Bible translation. Father Thomas earned a B.A. in Biblical Greek and Hebrew in 2008, while Karen completed her Linguistics degree in 2010. They began further studies at Dallas Theological Seminary but converted to Orthodoxy at Holy Trinity, Dallas, in 2012. Father Thomas received his M.Div. from Holy Cross Seminary in 2019 and was ordained a deacon and priest that same year. After serving at St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church in Colorado, he was assigned to St. Nicholas in August 2022. In his free time, he enjoys reading about Church history and walking the beaches of Corpus Christi with Karen.
